With Love In Sight

by Christina Britton

From Romance Writers of America’s® 2017 Golden Heart® winner comes a story of passion that is much more than meets the eye.

An aging spinster at twenty-six, all Imogen Duncan sees ahead of her is a life of servitude to her overbearing mother. Her London Season has passed and her desperate shyness and reserved demeanor have destroyed any chance for a match. As her younger sister Mariah begins her own Season with a selection of suitors, Imogen believes her chances for excitement are well and truly lost…Until a case of mistaken identity and an accidental kiss brings her adventure.

Burying his guilt from a decade-old tragedy beneath a life of debauchery, Caleb Masters, Marquess of Willbridge, is content enough to meet willing widows in dark gardens to numb the pain. But he is wholly unprepared when an innocent miss stumbles into him, turning his superficial world on its head.

Drawn to the rogue that mistakenly stole her first kiss, Imogen finds not a suitor, but a friend. Free to be herself for the first time, she begins to see a new beauty in the world around her…and see a strength in herself she never knew she possessed. But when friendship turns to passion, Imogen will accept nothing less than Caleb’s heart. Can a healing of the past lead to the promise of a future together?

This was such a wonderful debut! I absolutely love a good wallflower and rake story, and this one was simply marvelous. I loved watching the heroine, Imogen’s journey of growth, and Caleb was just perfect for her. This was a winner and I cannot wait to read more of Ms Britton’s novels!

The Renaissance Club

by Rachel Dacus

May Gold, college adjunct, often dreams about the subject of her master’s thesis – Gianlorenzo Bernini. In her fantasies she’s in his arms, the wildly adored partner of the man who invented the Baroque.

But in reality, May has just landed in Rome with her teaching colleagues and older boyfriend who is paying her way. She yearns to unleash her passion and creative spirit, and when the floor under the gilded dome of St Peter’s basilica rocks under her feet, she gets her chance. Walking through the veil that appears, she finds herself in the year 1624, staring straight into Bernini’s eyes. Their immediate and powerful attraction grows throughout May’s tour of Italy. And as she continues to meet her ethereal partner, even for brief snatches of time, her creativity and confidence blossom. All the doorways to happiness seem blocked for May-all except the shimmering doorway to Bernini’s world.

May has to choose: stay in her safe but stagnant existence, or take a risk. Will May’s adventure in time ruin her life or lead to a magical new one?

What a great story!! I loved how effortlessly the author transported me to Italy, both past and present, and as a reader I was fully immersed me in the art and culture of the Renaissance period (in such a wondrous way). Reading this book was an absolute delight for my senses. I thoroughly enjoyed the main character Maya, who was wonderful and I was so invested in her journey. This was a lovely debut, and I’m really looking forward to future books by Rachel Dacus!

Never Dare a Wicked Earl

by Renee Ann Miller

Known as a brazen philanderer, Hayden Milton, Earl of Westfield, is almost done in by a vengeful mistress who aims a gun at a rather essential part of his anatomy—but ends up wounding his thigh instead. Recuperating in his London townhouse, Hayden is confronted by his new medical attendant. Sophia Camden intrigues him, for behind her starched uniform is an enticing beauty better suited for bedding than dispensing salves and changing bandages.

Unshaken by his arrogance, not to mention impropriety, Sophia offers Hayden a dare: allow her ten days to prove her competency. If she resigns in exasperation like her two predecessors, she will be beholden to this wicked seducer. As a battle of wills begins, Sophia finds herself distracted by the earl’s muscular physique . . . and discovers that the man within longs only for a second chance to love

This book was thoroughly enjoyable. The pace was great, the dialogue was fun and there was fabulous chemistry between the two main characters Riley and Meg. The characters themselves were believable and very likable. Riley was dealing with a difficult past and recent trauma from his tour in Afghanistan and Meg was dealing with very real struggles that a single mother would, and together they were perfectly matched. It really was a delightful story, and the writer Carrie Nichols, has such an effortless writing style, I was pulled into the story instantly. This is a wonderful debut and I am looking forward to reading more from this talented writer!
